KARACHI: The decision to reopen schools will be taken after revisiting all the aspects that may cause issues during the still ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in order to avoid any risk to the health of students.

This was decided by Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani during a meeting held here on Tuesday. Education Secretary Ahmed Bux Narejo and other officials from the health department were also in attendance.

The meeting focussed on the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for educational institutions in the province, which would need to be in place beforehand in the event of reopening of the educational institutions anytime soon.

It was also decided to call a meeting of the steering committee of the Sindh education department in two to three days to finalise the SOPs.

However, the actual decision of when the educational institutions are to reopen will be taken during the National Coordination Committee video link session of all provincial education ministers and other important stakeholders with the federal education minister in Islamabad on Sept 7.
