ABBOTTABAD: Deputy commissioner Mughees Sanaullah has directed the revenue department to expedite the process of assessing the losses caused to infrastructure due to heavy rain and resultant floods in the Abbottabad district, especially in Galiyat.

He stated this while presiding over a meeting to take stock of damaged caused by floods and unprecedented rains in the district here on Friday.

Mr Sanaullah asked all the stakeholders to be vigilant and act quickly in case of any emergency.

Meanwhile, speaking at another meeting regarding polio, the deputy commissioner directed the health officials to ensure vaccination of the targeted children.

Police, health and district administration officials, in-charges of polio teams and supervisors were in attendance.

Also, the deputy commissioner launched an anti-encroachment drive in Galiyat and the surroundings of the Sumndar Khatta Lake following the directives of the high court.

At least 25 shops, cabins and other installations were removed under the supervision of additional deputy commissioner Shahab Mohammad Khan.

OFFICE BEARERS NAMED: Mansoor Sattar Lodhi Advocate and Masud Akhtar were elected president and general secretary of the Hazara Tax Bar Association in the elections for the next term at the annual general body meeting attended by tax lawyers, accountants and tax practitioners from Abbottabad, Haripur and Mansehra.

Malik Tanveer Hussain Advocate and Sajid Khan Advocate were elected vice-president and secretary finance.
