LAHORE: A Federal Review Board comprising judges of the superior courts on Saturday extended detention of 23 foreign nationals and three locals arrested on charges of illegal border crossing and espionage.

However, the board headed by Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik of the Supreme Court released one of the prisoners who was from Sri Lanka.

Those arrested include 19 people from India, three from Bangladesh, one from Sri Lanka and three locals.

The officials of the interior ministry produced the prisoners before the board at the Supreme Court’s Lahore registry.
