QUETTA: After examining Hub River Bridge on Sunday, a National Highway Authority (NHA) official said that there was no threat to the bridge as it was strong and fully intact in its actual position and shape.

Shahid Ehsanullah, a member of the NHA, southern Balochistan, examined the bridge over Hub River alobg with experts and engineers. Later, talking to media persons, he said that the bridge had been constructed in 1962 before the establishment of the NHA. “Responsible officers of the NHA regularly visit the Hub River Bridge after every six months,” he added.

He said that supporting pillars on which the bridge had been built were solid and resilient and rejected the possibility that they might collapse.

The NHA member said that the pillars of the bridge were actually in curved shape. Repair work on the bridge had been carried out by the NHA in 2014 and 2018, he added.
