CHITRAL: Two twin brothers of seven years age died when roof of their mud house collapsed after being hit by a landslide in Mahting village of Yarkhoon here on Sunday morning. They were sleeping when the incident occurred.

Upper Chitral deputy commissioner Shah Saud told Dawn that the landslide was caused due to fissures in an irrigation channel which passed by the affected house owned by Sher Jawan.

He said two minors, Ayan and Shayan, were sleeping in their home, while their parents and an elder sister were in the kitchen when the incident occurred, burying the two under the debris. The bodies were recovered after an effort of two hours.

Mr Saud said he had dispatched a tent and food items to the spot, while compensation would also be paid to the bereaved family.
