LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly unanimously passed here on Tuesday a resolution against the ‘pro-Ahmadis’ report presented in the British parliament and urged the federal government to immediately use its influence for withdrawing the same.

The resolution was jointly tabled by PML-Q’s Abdullah Yousaf Warraich, PML-N’s Rana Muhammad Iqbal, Samiullah Khan, Malik Muhammad Ahmad and PPP’s Syed Hassan Murtaza and was unanimously passed.

The motion condemned the ‘anti-Pakistan’ report issued by the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Ahmadiya as it alleged that the religious minority is being persecuted in the country under state patronage, while Islamabad’s stance was not incorporated into it.

The resolution stated that the report demanded making aid to Pakistan conditional to the approval of the recommendations in the report which included amending Pakistani laws in favour of the Ahmadis, allowing the community to preach their teachings in educational institutions.

The house, through the resolution, urged the federal government and the Foreign Office to immediately get the report withdrawn from the British parliament for what is said foiling the anti-Muslim Ummah conspiracy.

It also condemned incidents of blasphemy in Sweden and France and urged the government to register its protest with the two countries and for steps to prevent repeats.

Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi put the resolution to vote and it was passed unanimously. Later, the proceedings were put off for an indefinite period.
