KARACHI: Federal Water Resources Minister Faisal Vawda on Friday said he had recently held discussion with Prime Minister Imran Khan and was trying to bring forward a consensual legislation for public hanging of rape convicts.

He said this while speaking to journalists after visiting the bereaved family of the five-year-old girl, who was kidnapped, raped and killed near old Sabzi Mandi earlier this week.

“She was not their daughter along, she was also my daughter,” he said while sitting beside the father of the victim.

“I have talked to the PM and requested him for his support. I have initiated a campaign to table a bill in the National Assembly for hanging the culprits of such crimes in public.

“I appeal to all legislators, please come together for this cause.”

He said he had also proposed a legislation for castration of rape convicts.
