KARACHI: Shoaib Abbas of Khairpur beat Syed Oanuddin 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 while top seed Farhan Altaf emerged victorious in the second round of men’s singles event when opponent Uzair Katchi conceded the match in the second set with Farhan leading 6-2 on the second day of the first Taqwiyat-ul-Iman School Tennis Championships at the Union Club courts on Monday.

The tournament has been organised by Sindh Tennis Association (STA). Earlier, on Sunday, the week long championship was inaugurated by Shujauddin, Chief Executive Taqwiyat ul Iman Schooling System.

First day: Men’s Singles Main (1st Round): Uzair Katchi beat Mustafa Burney 6-0, 6-1; Mushab Umair beat Raheel Shabbir 6-0, 6-3; Ahmed Khalid beat Syed Daniya Khaliq 6-0, 7-5, Shoaib Abbas beat Saad Ahmed 6-1, 6-1; Shahid Aman beat Shahmeer Usman 6-4, 7-6

Boys Under 15 Singles (Ist Round): Ahsan Ahmed beat Moosa Faisal 6-4, 6-4, Abdullah Razzaq beat Abdul Qadir 6-4, 4-6. 10-7, Dhuraf Das got walkover Abdullah Aftab

Second day: Men’s Singles (1st Round): Amir Mumtaz beat Muhammad Amir Qamar 6-1, 6-4; Ibadul Rehman beat Usama Saeed 2-6, 6-4, 10 -8

Mens Singles (2nd Round): Shoaib Abbas beat Syed Oanuddin 6-3, 3-6, 10-5; Farhan Altaf beat Uzair Katchi 6-2, 4-3 Rtd.

Under 13 Singles (Quarters): Dhuraf Das beat Hasan Jamal 6-1, 7-6 ( 5).
