SUKKUR: The hearing of a reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah and 17 co-accused, including his two wives and two sons, was adjourned to October 5 by the Sukkur Accountability Court on Friday due to a strike by lawyers.

Mr Shah was arrested on Sept 18 last year in Banigala, Islamabad, following the filing of the reference accusing him and the co-accused of amassing assets beyond their known sources of income. According to the NAB reference, he had amassed more than Rs1.23 billion through irregularities.

Soon after his arrest, the senior PPP leader was admitted to Sukkur’s National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) and has been under treatment there to date. He is brought to the accountability court in an ambulance on every hearing of the case under stringent security measures.

His MPA son, Farrukh Shah, and son-in-law, Awais Qadir Shah, were among the several co-accused who personally appeared in the court on Friday.
