LAHORE: The Punjab Cabinet, in its special meeting on Monday, approved purchase of imported wheat from the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) and allowed the food department to enter into an agreement with the TCP for this purpose.
The cabinet’s special meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, at his office also constituted a committee to submit recommendations for deciding about the new support price of wheat. The meeting approved financial aid to the heirs of affectees of the blast at the Hathi Chowk, Rawalpindi.
Addressing the meeting, the CM directed the committee to submit comprehensive recommendations for reviewing the wheat support price before sowing of the new crop. Though he vowed that every step would be taken to stabilise the prices of wheat and flour, the masses, across the province, continued running from pillar to post to get flour bag on the rates fixed by the government.
The ministers, advisers, special assistants, chief secretary and administrative secretaries attended the meeting.
