KARACHI: In keeping with the internationally recognised practice of ethical journalism, veteran journalist Muhammad Ali Siddiqi has been appointed as Dawn’s External Ombudsman (DEO).

The idea is to attend to our readers’ complaints, and to respond to them professionally.

The DEO will be the investigating authority to whom all complaints can be referred, and it is he who will take note of any alleged violations of Dawn’s code of ethics. In all such matters the DEO will convey his observations/suggestions to the Editor for the final decision.

Since state institutions and political parties have enough avenues for articulating their views, the DEO forum is meant basically for Dawn readers.

Readers can send their complaints, if any, on dawnombudsman@gmail.com
