SAHIWAL: Chichawatni (Model Court) Additional District and Sessions Judge Sarfaraz Ahmed on Thursday handed down death sentence on two counts along with Rs0.2 million fine each to three brothers in a double murder case at village 105/12-L.
Reports said three brothers Abdul Latif, Muhammad Rafiq and Muhammad Sharif were involved in double murder of their cousins Abdul Haq and Abdul Kareem. In 2019, Oukainwala police had registered a murder case on the compliant of deceased’s mother Waserain Bibi against the convicts who had killed their cousins over a marriage dispute.

Fourteen years back, Surraiya had married Irshadul Haq of Green Town, Arifwala. She gave birth to three children. Later, the couple developed differences.
Woman’s brother Ashiq told police that his sister off and on came to his house because of domestic violence. He said three days back Irshad again beat her and she moved to his house. According to eyewitnesses, she was on her way after dropping her youngest son Hanan Irshad to school on Thursday when Irshad standing at a street corner opened fire, killing her on the spot. The suspect managed his escape. Arifwala City police have registered a case on the compliant of Ashiq.
PPLA PROTEST: Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association in collaboration with Punjab Educators Association will hold a protest rally from Masjid-i-Shuhada to Assembly Hall, Lahore, on Friday (today) to press the government for the acceptance of their demands.
The teachers have been demanding service security for around 6,000 college teachers inducted on contract in the past. This rally and a token sit-in is the final leg of the ongoing protest. Hundreds of college teachers will reach Lahore from across nine divisions of Punjab.
PPLA Lahore President Touseef Sadiq said earlier six protests were done at divisional headquarters, including Multan, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sargodha.
