ISLAMABAD : Italian ambassador Andreas Ferrarese has said that Italy and Pakistan shared and update their common vision on poverty reduction and climate change.

Chairing a roundtable on Italian support towards sustainable development, he said that interventions through multi-actor schemes involving the state would help implement various poverty reduction programmes in vulnerable communities.

The roundtable between the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) was held in connection with the Sustainable Development Festival 2020.

The Italian support programme was launched in 2013 and a total of 40 million euros have been deployed under the programme.

The programme has benefitted 77,000 poorest families in 14 remote districts of Balochistan, former Fata and KP, mainly in infrastructure projects, flood protection, irrigations through renewal energy, etc.
