SWABI: Students of Computer Science Department of the University of Swabi staged a protest demonstration here against the varsity management for its failure to provide them with the required facilities like computer lab.

The students gathered at the campus here the other day and staged a demonstration, demanding the government and university management to provide them with all the facilities like advanced computers for getting proper education.

They said that there was no hardware and computer laboratory in the university for them and in this situation it was impossible to acquire computer science education.

The students said it was the responsibility of both the government and university to ensure provision of all education facilities in the department.

POLICE CRACKDOWN: Police here on Thursday launched a crackdown on unregistered motorcycles and vowed that no such motorcycle would be allowed to ply on roads in the district.

The police officials said that presence of unregistered bikes on the local roads was also a threat to the law and order, as such motorcycles were usually also used by criminals.

The officials admitted that the number of motorcycles had increased manifold in the district while people always delayed the registration and allowed youngsters to drive them.

District police officer Imran Shahid said they were determined to take action against all those who failed to register their vehicles in time while the bargain owners had also been told not to delay the registration process.

“The seized bikes would be returned to the owners only on production of the registration book,” said traffic warden Janab Ali Khan.

ROAD ACCIDENT: A man died after his motorcycle was hit by a tractor trolley in Karnal Sher Khan village here the other day.

Police said the bike rider, identified as Ameer Aftab, was on way home in Karnal Sher Khan village and when he reached the area a tractor trolley hit his motorcycle and he died on the spot.

ELECTED: Mian Iftikharuddin Bacha was elected as Swabi district head of Jamaat-i-Islami for two-year term on Thursday, said JI leaders.
