MIRPURKHAS: A special medical board exhumed the body of Dr Maha Ali Shah at Girhor Shareef graveyard in Sindhri taluka in the presence of civil judge and judicial magistrate on Thursday and took samples for chemical analysis.

The board chaired by Dr Mohammad Ali Qureshi conducted post mortem on the body amid tight security by Phuladiyoon and Karachi police, which was led by investigation officer of the alleged suicide case. Local journalists were not allowed into the graveyard.

Dr Qureshi told journalists later that they had taken various samples of the body for chemical analysis, after which a report would be prepared and submitted to the police and court concerned within 10 to 15 days.

Syed Asif Shah, father of late Dr Maha, reiterated before journalists that his daughter had committed suicide after suffering huge stress in the wake of blackmailing by the accused Junaid. He wanted police to find out real causes of her suicide, he said.

Dr Maha was found dead in her house in DHA, Karachi, on Aug 18, with a bullet wound. Police had said initially that she had committed suicide by shooting herself. After initial post mortem on her body, she was buried in Girhor Shareef graveyard. The body was exhumed after Dr Maha’s father expressed reservations over the post-mortem results.
