Liaquat College, Hyderabad win opening basketball ties

TANDO JAM: Liaquat Medical College Jamshoro beat Mirpurkhas Fighters while Hyderabad Division beat Mirpurkhas Division in the opening two matches of the Shaheed-e-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan SSB Cup basketball tournament which commenced here in Tando Jam on Friday.

Liaquat College team won 38-31 while Hyderabad Div team triumphed 36-24 in front of a sizeable crowd.

Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Khurram Rafi, head of Hyderabad Div Basketball Association. 16 teams from various universities, colleges and districts from the interior of Sindh are participating in the tournament which is jointly being hosted by Sindh Agriculture University and PSWA.

Director Sports Sindh Agriculture University Anwar Hussain Khanzada, LUMS director physical education Aslam Memon, PSWA director media Mohammad Arshad and others were also present.

The guests in their speech thanked Secretary Sports Imtiaz Ali Shah and Deptt of Sports and Youth affairs for its patronage and support of sports activities across the province.

The final will be played on Sunday.
