RAWALPINDI: A soldier of Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom and three others suffered injuries in a terrorist attack on a patrolling party of security forces near the Jhaki post in the Turbat area of Balochistan on Saturday.

The terrorists opened fire on the security forces’ patrolling party some 35km southeast of Turbat. During the ensuing exchange of fire, Lance Naik Waseem Ullah was martyred and three other soldiers suffered injuries, said an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release.

This was the second attack on security personnel in Balochistan in three days.

Earlier on Thursday, 14 security personnel — seven personnel of the Frontier Corps and seven civilian guards employed by the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited — were martyred in an armed attack on their convoy on the Coastal Highway in the Ormara area of Gwadar district.

According to a statement issued by the ISPR, an encounter took place between security forces and a large number of terrorists. Security forces ensured security of the OGDCL staff and managed their safe exit from the area. During the clash, substantial losses were also incurred to the terrorists.
