Four teachers and three non-teaching staff members have tested positive for the coronavirus at different schools in Hyderabad, according to health officials.

A male and a female teacher tested positive at two government schools in Hussainabad, while two female teachers from as many private schools in Latifabad were also confirmed to have the virus.

The three other staff members who tested positive include an administration official, a gatekeeper and a sanitary worker. The staff members have been quarantined at their homes since they were asymptomatic, according to District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Lala Jaffar.

He said one of these schools where four cases were confirmed would be closed, in accordance with guidelines mandating closure of a school where four or more infections are reported.
