HYDERABAD, Sept 27: Speakers at a meeting held at the University of Sindh on Tuesday paid tribute to Professor Emeritus Dr Ghulam Mustafa Khan for his contributions to the cause of education and religion.

They included Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, Dr Kazi Khadim Hussain, Dr Saleem Chandio, Dr Javed Iqbal and Dr Ghulam Asghar Maka.

They said Dr Khan was among the first teachers who were selected by Allama I.I. Kazi to teach at the university.

They said his monumental contribution in the cause of education could be gauged from the fact that he had authored and compiled 90 books.

They said Dr Khan supervised the thesis of 50 PhD scholars and an equal number of MPhil scholars.

Mr Siddiqui said he was an embodiment of piety and a model for scholars and students.

He said Dr Khan had produced a community of able and conscientious university teachers.

He said the vacuum created by Dr Khan’s death would not be filled in centuries.

He renamed the seminar library at the university as the Dr Ghulam Mustafa Khan Seminar Library.

He said a Dr Ghulam Mustafa Khan chair would be established in the university.

He expressed the hope that philanthropists would give a helping hand in establishing the chair.
