HYDERABAD: The district administration plans to rebuild entire infrastructure in SITE area in cooperation with Hyderabad SITE Association of Trade and Industry, according to Commissioner Mohammad Abbas Baloch.

He told a delegation of representatives of SITE Association who called on him here on Thursday that Hyderabad was the second largest industrial hub of the province and rehabilitation of its industrial area deserved to be prioritised.

He said that all grievances of industrialists would be redressed because industrial sector was backbone of economy and industrialists played a significant role in earning huge foreign exchange for the country.

He said the government was taking special measures to improve economic conditions as best as it could.

Over a complaint by the industrialists, the commissioner assured the delegation of restoring supply of water to the SITE area whose connection was cut off by irrigation department over non-payment of dues by SITE Limited.

He contacted managing director of SITE over phone and asked him to clear dues of the irrigation department and also discussed with him rebuilding of infrastructure in the SITE area. He urged the association’s representatives to adopt Barkat Bhai Park and said that civil administration was ready to improve the park and hand it over to SITE Association.

The commissioner underscored the need for cooperation between the association and civil administration in rebuilding infrastructure in the industrial area.

He asked the delegation to meet Deputy Commissioner Fuad Ghaffar Soomro over the issue of encroachments in the industrial area and said that under the DC’s supervision all assistant commissioners and mukhtiarkars were engaged in anti-encroachment drive across the district.

The SITE Association’s chairman Pervez Faheem Noorwala, who led the delegation, expressed dissatisfaction over sanitary conditions in the city and said that air pollution was posing serious threat to health of people right from Fateh Chowk due to mounds of garbage littering the area and requested the commissioner to take notice of it.
