SWABI: Police here on Sunday arrested a man wanted to the counter-terrorism department, Mardan, in a murder case besides 60 other suspects.

District police officer Imran Shahid told mediapersons that Mohammad Ibrahim, who belongs to Malikabad village, was wanted to CTD police station, Mardan, under section 302/7 ATA.

Answering a question, he said Ibrahim was nabbed during a search and strike operation conducted in Malikabad village and nearby localities.

“The wanted man has been shifted to CTD Mardan,” said an official.

He said that 60 other suspects, including five alleged facilitators of terrorists, had also been arrested during the operation who would be interrogated.

He said three pistols, one rifle and a large number of cartridges were seized besides two kilogrammes of charas in the operation. Separate FIRs have been registered against them in Topi city and Gadoon estate police stations.

Meanwhile, a five-year-old girl drowned in Gohati canal on Sunday. Rescue 1122 officials said they had recovered body of the girl and handed it over to the family for burial.

TOMATO PRICE: Vegetable traders here on Sunday refused to sell tomato at the price fixed by the government to avoid losses.

Tomato was not available in Swabi city with vegetable traders as none of them picked the commodity from the vegetable market on Sunday.

The traders said the tehsil municipal administration had fixed tomato price at Rs125 per kilogramme, but it was being sold in the vegetable market (Sabzi Mandi) at Rs175 per kg. They said the high price had forced them to decide that they would not sell tomato.
