KURRAM: Four members of a family, a Frontier Corps soldier among them, were killed and two children injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a moving vehicle in Shalozan area of Kurram district here on Monday.

The police said the victims were taking food for labourers working on an under-construction house in the area when they came under attack.

As a result of firing, Eng Asad Ali, Yadullah, Ayan Haider (child) and FC man Sadiq Hussain died on the spot, while two other children, Safdar Abbas and Anum Fatima, travelling with them were injured.

The police launched an operation soon after the incident and arrested six accused.

District police officer Mohammad Quresh Khan said the police had registered a case and launched further investigations.

Meanwhile, Nasir Mehdi, a brother of deceased Asad Ali, said they had no enmity with anyone in the area, but his brother was fighting a legal battle for the people deprived of their share in the community land.
