LAKKI MARWAT: Three persons, including two women, were killed and four others injured in a mishap on the Bannu-Dera Ismail Khan Road here on Wednesday.

A Rescue 1122 official said a pick-up truck loaded with bricks collided with a car coming from the opposite side near Ghaznikhel.

He said three people, including two women, travelling in the car died on the spot.

A rescue team shifted the injured and bodies to the District Headquarters Hospital, Tajazai.

Meanwhile, district police officer Abdul Rauf Baber has dismissed three policemen, including the station house officer of Serai Gambila police station, for misconduct and concealment of crime.

An official said on Sept 26, SHO Irfan Khan along with a police party had intercepted a truck near Serai Gambila Adda and seized 120kg hashish from it, but they showed recovery of only three kilogrammes in the FIR lodged against Ayub Khan, a resident of Kurrum.

Later, the police let the driver go along with the truck.

The official said the DPO and ordered registration of FIR against the policemen and their arrest.

DSP Azmat Bangash conducted an inquiry and proved the allegations leveled against SHO Irfan Khan, head constable Ghulam Qadir and constable Zubair proved.

CERTIFICATES DISTRIBUTED: Bannu deputy commissioner Mohammad Zubair Niazi distributed best performance certificates among polio workers and religious scholars at a ceremony on Wednesday.

On the occasion, he said LHWs and vaccinators left no stone unturned in ensuring immunisation of children against the crippling disease.

Mr Niazi also thanked the religious scholars for their support to convince reluctant parents on vaccination of their children.

Meanwhile, the Bannu division commissioner Shaukat Ali Yousafzai has asked the administrations of Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts to curb gas theft to ensure uninterrupted supply to the consumers.

He issued the directions while chairing a meeting at his office on Wednesday.

SNGPL general manager Taj Ali Khan told the meeting that despite suffering 50 per cent line losses in Bannu and 30 per cent in Lakki Marwat, the company would provide gas facility to maximum number of people.

The divisional commissioner assured the company of extending full support in curbing gas theft.
