QUETTA: Balochistan Governor retired Justice Amanullah Khan Yasinzai inaugurated the first Pakistan-China Friendship Healthcare Centre here on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the governor appreciated the establishment of the healthcare centre, which has been dedicated to the memory of martyrs of a suicide attack on the Civil Hospital, Quetta, four years ago.

Terrorists targeted the hospital on August 8, 2016, killing more than 70 people, mainly lawyers, and injuring about 130 others.

The healthcare centre has been set up at the Red Crescent Society building, with the assistance of Chinese authorities.

Mr Yasinzai said the centre would become fully operational soon. He said the country’s economic future was linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

The governor said that unfortunately Balochistan lagged behind other provinces due to various reasons.

Chairman of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society Abrar-ul-Haq, head of Hilal-i-Ahmar Balochistan Akram Shah and Adviser for Pakistan and China Assistance Bayazid Khan Kasi also spoke and briefed the governor on the project.

Earlier, the governor distributed wheelchairs, shields and schoolbags among disabled persons.
