HYDERABAD, Sept 30: A package of medical treatment of hepatitis-C and cardiac surgery for poor patients was approved at a meeting of the District Baitul Maal Steering Committee held here on Thursday.

Hyderabad DCO Muhammad Hussain Syed presided over the meeting.

The DCO directed the officers concerned to scrutinize applications of needy persons on ground realities in such a way so that genuine deserving poor patients could be benefited. He also directed that the payment to the needy patients would be made during the holy month of Ramazan.

He informed that as many as 2,684 new beneficiaries have been included in the food support programme of the Baitul Maal and advised poor people of minorities and disabled persons to avail of the opportunity of the food support programme.

He stressed upon the management of the Baitul Maal and the Pakistan Post Office to simplify procedure of payment and make it transparent so that needy people could be benefited without any difficulty.

STRAY DOGS: DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed has said that 50 per cent reduction in dog-bite cases has been noted after the anti-dog campaign in the district. He was presiding over a meeting regarding killing of stray dogs on Thursday.
