KARACHI: A passenger died aboard an Indian commercial airliner that made an emergency landing at Karachi airport on Tuesday evening after the pilot declared a medical emergency.
The Delhi-bound GoAir flight took off from Riyadh earlier in the day. However, it was diverted and landed at Karachi airport in the evening as one of the passengers fell unconscious.
Airport officials sent a doctor to the plane. He examined the patient and declared him dead.
Civil Aviation Authority spokesperson Saad bin Ayub said the passenger, identified as 30-year-old Indian national Muhammad Naushad, had suffered a cardiac arrest and died in the aircraft.
Pakistan has allowed emergency landing of A320 aircraft of GoAir, which is owned by famous Wadia family, on humanitarian grounds.
