BAJAUR: The local leaders of the opposition parties in Bajaur tribal district on Saturday announced to ensure maximum participation of workers in the PDM’s Peshawar rally on Sunday (today).

Speaking to reporters during separate pressers, they said all arrangements had been finalised to ensure active participation of workers in the power show.

Addressing a news conference at his residence, PPP provincial vice-president Sayed Akhunzada Chattan claimed up to 2,000 party workers would participate in the PDM gathering. He said the party activists would leave for Peshawar at 9am on Sunday from Sadiqabad town in a caravan of about 160 vehicles.

Similarly, JUI-F district chief Maulana Abdur Rasheed told reporters that about 4,000 party activists would attend the PDM rally. He said his party had arranged more than 180 vehicles for the purpose which would leave for Peshawar from the Khar Bazaar.

Talking to Dawn, ANP district general secretary Nisar Baz Khan announced that more than 4,000 workers would attend the rally. He said there was great excitement among the party workers about the Peshawar rally.

He said besides party workers, large number of students and youths would also participate in the rally.

PML-N district general secretary Israruddin Khan announced that a large number of workers were willing to attend the anti-government rally. He said the party workers would depart for Peshawar at 9am from the Khar Bazaar.

PkMAP district president Malik Asghar Khan said a number of party workers would participate in the PDM rally.

COMPENSATION: Provincial minister for zakat and ushr Anwarzeb Khan on Saturday handed over a compensation cheque to a family whose seven members had been killed in a mortar attack in the border locality of Bangro in Salarzai teshil on February 3.

The minister gave away the cheque at a ceremony. On the occasion, Mr Khan said the amount was approved by the provincial government on his request. He said being the people’s representative in the provincial assembly it was his prime responsibility to work for people’s betterment.

He said the family whose two members were killed in a mortar attack in Teabasta area of Salazai area a few months ago would also be compensated.
