KOHAT: The provincial health authorities have notified transfer of two medical officers to Chitral who were found absent from duty during a late night visit to Lachi hospital by the health minister.

Health minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra had deplored the bad condition of Lachi type-D hospital and performance of doctors there the other day.

In a notification issued by director general health, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the minister also regretted the poor performance of district health officer Dr Mohammad Sameen to discharge his administrative duties honestly. He gave him one week to improve the conditions or face action.

Similarly, the two doctors who were found absent during the minister’s visit had been transferred to Chitral as punishment. The medical officers, including Dr Hashmat Ullah and Dr Shehryar, had been using casualty as residence and the hospital was in deplorable condition, the notification said.

GAS OUTAGES: Condemning artificial outages in gas-producing Kohat district, former Togh Bala nazim and Awami National party member Haji Raheem Khan has said that under the 18th Amendment the resource-producing area had first right over its use, which was being denied.

Addressing a press conference at Kohat Press Club on Saturday, he alleged that 70 per cent of gas had been diverted to other provinces by decreasing the quota of Kohat and KP. He demanded immediate restoration of uninterrupted gas supply.

KILLED: A youngster was killed while three elders were injured in a firing incident in a hujra in Tangi Banda area of Jarma here on Saturday. The complainant, father of the deceased, Mohammad Shahid told police they were sitting in the hujra of Shehzad Mir when Bilal Khan entered and started indiscriminate firing at them.

He said that Saifullah Khan, Jehad Khan of Tangi Banda and Mohammad Danish of Chambai village sustained bullet injuries. The police shifted the dead and the injured to KDA hospital. The police registered the case and have started search for the accused.

ARREST PROTESTED: The members of youth committee of Orakzai district have protested the arrest and beating up of two complainants of substandard Samana road and demanded their immediate release and inquiry against the contractor.

Youth committee president Mohammad Nawaz and members staged a protest in front of the press club and said that contractor Rasool Gul had registered false FIRs against Inayat Ullah and Azam Khan.
