TAXILA: Chairman Public Accounts Committee Punjab Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari on Thursday said under Global Active Cities Project, Attock grounds will be rehabilitated and further improved and equipped with more facilities.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the project at Liaquat Ali Khan Hockey Stadium Mr Bukhari said Pakistan was the second country in South Asia and the third in Asia which had become part of the project which had been started from Rawalpindi, Attock and Chakwal districts.
The Global Active Cities Project has been launched to introduce a culture that promotes a healthy lifestyle in the society.
Besides the Public Accounts Committee Punjab chairman, Deputy Commissioner Attock Ali Annan Qammar, Olympian Shahnaz Sheikh, Health, Education and Sports Department officials exercised for 30 minutes under the supervision of Global Active Cities Project experts.
He said that under the Global Active Cities Project, healthy activities would be promoted and such events would be organised in which ordinary citizens could participate and be attracted towards a healthy lifestyle.
Officers and staff equally participated in today’s fitness session to promote the workout environment in the offices.
Speaking on this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Attock Ali Annan Qammar said the plan had been formulated in such a way that every member of the society could become part of it as a healthy lifestyle was the right of every citizen.
He said the condition of parks and grounds across the district was being improved so that under the project of Global Active Cities, people can participate in more healthy activities and improve their health by exercising for 30 minutes daily.
Olympian Shahnaz Sheikh said that projects like Global Active Cities were of revolutionary significance and such projects were helpful in giving healthy trends in the society.
