LAHORE: The Punjab police department has decided to commence internship programme for students of educational institutions to acquaint them with the working of the provincial police offices.

The initiative would help provide awareness and practical experience of police work and field work to the students.

Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani said this while addressing a meeting at the Central Police Office on Thursday. He said the bilateral cooperation between the Punjab police and educational institutions would be enhanced to increase knowledge of the students and ensure their capacity building.

He directed the police officers concerned to prepare working paper for the approval of the internship programme and present it in the next meeting of the executive board of the Punjab police so that a final decision could be taken in consultation with all the officers.

The IGP said that before the commencement of the internship programme, an MoU would be signed with the major educational institutions of Punjab.
