The Embassy of Italy in collaboration with Marriott Hotel hosted an event to commemorate the Italian cuisine week. The hosts, Ambassador of Italy Andreas Ferrarese and Albana Ferrarese also demonstrated styles of cooking from their regions of Italy.

Ambassador Ferrarese said: “This event here today is celebrated by Italian embassies all around the world. This is the day for the presentation and promotion of Italian cuisine. It promotes cuisine as part of the Italian way of life which is a mix of beauty, art, elegance and taste — the taste of living. Here in Pakistan this year we chose to promote not the highest cuisine but something that everybody can do themselves at home – easy cuisine.”

The event showcased some of the old favourites of Italian cuisine such as Crostini, a crusted oven-baked bread with olive oil dipped tomatoes topping, Antipasto platters assembled with non-baked items such as cured meat, artisan bread, olive, nuts, crackers and rich cheese, Bruschetta and Eggplant Parmesan. A pizza corner was set up to produce freshly baked Italian pizzas with a variety of toppings.

Albana Ferrarese said: “We are very happy we managed to host this event in difficult times since this week is the week of Italian cuisine all over the world. And we are happy that we are in Pakistan where people really love Italian food.”
