KARACHI: Talented Eibad Sarwar emerged victorious in the tennis singles as well as in the doubles event while pairing with Mohammad Ali in the 1st KTA Beach Tennis Tournament at Clifton Beach which was organised by Karachi Tennis Association recently.

Eibad was in fine form and got the better of Usama Saeed in the final to clinch the singles title. Earlier Usama beat Hashir Suhail to reach the final.

The tournament was held under the auspices of PTF-STA and strict SOPs were followed by all participants.

The day-long championship was inaugurated by Mohammad Khalid Rehmani, Vice President Pakistan Tennis Federation. Twelve male players competed in open singles and doubles events while five female players also played exhibition matches.

Rehmani thanked ITF and famous beach equipment manufacturers ‘Sandever’ for providing very high standard beach tennis equipment to Pakistan Tennis Federation.

He announced that from now on beach tennis events would be integral part of all National and Sindh Ranking tournaments to be organised in Karachi in the coming months.

“Our target is to groom boys and girls for international events such as Asian Beach Games and Commonwealth Beach Games.

Meanwhile, Salim Saifullah, President, Pakistan Tennis Federation, appreciated the role of Sindh Tennis Association in promotion of beach and wheelchair tennis and lauded the efforts of Khalid Rehmani for conducting such events in Pakistan.

The organizing committee of the 1st KTA Beach Tennis tournament comprised Tournament Director Sarwar Hussain and organizing secretary Erum Bukhari and Irum Taazeem and Farha Riaz as members.

Beach Tennis Men’s Singles (semifinals): Eibad Sarwar beat Faizan Ali 3-1; Usama saeed beat Hashir Suhail 3-1

Final: Eibad Sarwar beat Usama Saeed 3-2

Men’s Doubles (semifinals): Eibad Sarwar & Mohammad Ali beat Basim Ali & Saad Ahmed 4-1; Faizan Ali & Ahsan Ahmed beat Noor e Mustafa & Sahibzada Mubeen 4-2

Doubles final: Eibad Sarwar & Mohammad Ali beat Faizan Ali and Ahsan Ahmed 4-2.
