LAHORE: The fifth Hassan Tariq Rahim Memorial Tennis Championship 2020 will get underway here at the Lahore Gymkhana tennis courts from Saturday (Dec 5).

This was stated by Tournament Director and Gymkhana Tennis Club Secretary Waqar Nisar.

He says for the first time in Pakistan tennis history, the winners of the men’s and women’s category will receive the same prize money. “Top seeded tennis players (men and women) from across the country are taking part in this huge-prize money event while Pakistan’s international tennis player Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi couldn’t participate in the event due to injury,” he said.

The event will be contested in men’s singles and doubles, women’s and boys’ categories. The winners of each category will earn Rs 150,000 each while the runners-up will receive Rs 75,000 each. The main draws will take place on Dec 4 while the finals will be contested on Dec 11.

The event will be conducted strictly following all the necessary Covid-19 SOPs while the limited seats will be available for the spectators to witness matches and support their favourite players throughout the event.
