HARIPUR: Unknown motorcyclists shot and injured the principal of Government Centennial Model School for Boys No 1, Haripur, police said on Wednesday.
They said Basharat Khan suffered a single bullet shot in the right jaw and was referred to Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad, where doctors stated his condition out of danger.
The city police quoted the wife of the injured, who was accompanying him, as saying that they were travelling back home to Kahka village on Tuesday evening when two persons riding a motorcycle ambushed the car near a CNG station. She said Mr Khan, who was driving the car, got injured in the attack.
The complainant said she and her children remained unhurt. The injured was shifted to the Haripur Trauma Centre, wherefrom he was referred to the Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad. The police have registered a case against unknown accused.
Meanwhile, teachers from different parts of the district on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration against the attack on Basharat Khan and demanded early arrest of the accused. The protesters blocked the GT Road for some time and dispersed peacefully when the police assured them of arrest of the culprits.
