CHARSADDA: The Counter-Terrorism Department and the police in a joint operation arrested a terrorist affiliated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan here on Wednesday.

The operation was conducted in the jurisdiction of Saro Kallay police station.

SP investigations Darwesh Khan told a press conference that on a tip-off that a wanted terrorist, Zakir alias Yasir, was present in the limits of Saro Kallay police station, the personnel of the police and CTD from Mardan launched an action and apprehended him. He was shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

Flanked SP CTD Fazal Waid Khan and Charsadda in-charge Hameed Khan, SP Darwesh Khan two hand grenades and an SMG was recovered from his possession. He said the outlaw was involved in 21 terrorist bids, including attacks on Tangi courts, Ghalanai political compound, FC Fort, and Lathi checkpost. He said the accused was also wanted to police in incidents of targeted killing, kidnapping and other crimes.
