HARIPUR: Around 30 women teachers of the Workers Welfare Board School No II, Haripur, have accused the principal of forcing them into recording lectures against their consent.

In a joint letter sent to the WWB secretary and director, the teachers said they were opposed to the audio or video recording of their lectures in classrooms due to family issues.

They criticised the principal for ‘exposing’ them to constant psychological stress and hypertension.

The teachers warned that they won’t work under the administration of the principal.

They demanded the WWB secretary step in to address their misery.

When contacted, WWB director (education) Abrar Shah said he had resolved the issue by holding meetings with teachers and principal.

He said he had asked the principal not to force teachers into recording class presentations.

“The complainants have agreed to withdraw complaint and continue with work in line with the schedule of classes,” he said.

The director said Mr Shah said all other women teachers of the WWB schools, including some in remote districts, had been following the live presentation schedule in the province.

HARASSMENT: The city police arrested the owner-cum-teacher of a private educational institution here on the alleged harassment of a girl student.

The arrest came on the complaint of the girl’s father.

The complainant insisted that the accused frequently harassed his daughter, a student of the Spoken English Department of a local private institution, by SMS messages.

He said his daughter got so upset that she’d refused to attend classes.

The complainant showed the police the accused’s text messages.

The police registered a case against the accused under Section 25-D of the Telegraph Act and Section 506 of PPC before arresting him.
