LAHORE: A minor boy was killed after being allegedly sexually assaulted in Green Town on Sunday.

Police said a seven-year-old boy of Maryam Colony on Madar-i-Millat Road had gone missing from his house on Sunday morning. His family lodged a complaint over which a case was registered.

Meanwhile, a minor boy was admitted to Jinnah Hospital by a man who claimed the child was injured in a road accident. The boy later died of his injuries. The hospital police checkpost officials were called to shift the body to the morgue as the man who brought him had left, and police identified the boy as the one who had gone missing from Maryam Colony.

Doctors reported that the boy was stabbed with a sharp-edged weapon and was not injured in an accident. Later, post-mortem revealed that the minor was sexually assaulted and later stabbed that led to his death in hospital.

Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani took notice of the sexual abuse and murder of the boy and sought a report from the capital city police officer.

The chief minister demanded immediate arrest of the culprit and justice for the bereaved family. Mr Buzdar extended heartfelt condolences with the family and assured them of justice at any cost.

Later, after initial investigation, police ascertained that the suspect was a neighbour of the victim. They registered a murder and sexual assault case against the suspect and took his brother into custody. They were conducting raids to arrest the suspect.

FIRE: An 85-year-old man was killed in a house fire on Gurumangat Road on Sunday.

Rescue 1122 received a call that a fire had erupted in a house on Gurumangat Road. The rescue teams reached the spot and extinguished the fire after half an hour.

They also found a body in one of the rooms of the house. The victim was identified as Taj Deen. The rescuers said a gas cylinder leakage could have caused the fire and engulfed the room of the victim, who suffered critical injuries and died on the spot.
