BEIJING, Oct 3: Nearly 60 Chinese police trainees were missing on Monday after mountain torrents swelled by Typhoon Longwang swept away two buildings at their academy, state media reported as the storm churned through southeastern China.
Floodwaters washed away two residential buildings at the Fuzhou Command School of Armed Police in Fujian province, Xinhua news agency said.
President Hu Jintao ordered an all-out effort to find the missing trainees after the accident on Sunday night, and military and police teams were sent immediately to coordinate operations, it said.
