PESHAWAR: The traffic police have launched a FM radio station to update road users on traffic situation in the city and educate them on safety measures.

Peshawar SSP (traffic) Abbas Majeed Khan told Dawn that the FM 88.60 radio station broadcast traffic updates between 6:45am and 9pm daily from CTP officers and Google map to keep commuters posted on traffic congestion and suggest alternative routes to facilitate them.

He said the project was conceived two years ago but couldn’t be executed for certain reasons.

Mr Abbas said the City Traffic Police, Peshawar, had also launched its twitter handle @TrafficPeshawar to provide regular updates every fifteen minutes to the users of the social networking service.
