KARACHI: The fifth SSB wheelchair tennis coaching camp and tournament concluded at the Union Club on Sunday. Talented Fida Hussain won the wheelchair tennis event while Mohammad Ayub was the runner-up.

The two month long coaching camp was supported by Sindh Sports Board and organised by Sindh Tennis Association in collab­oration with Para Sports Pakistan. Aqeel Shabbir, Ishrat zehra were tha coaches while PTF’ VP Khalid Rehmani was the camp camandant and Sarwar Hussain and Dr. Nadia were the coordinators.

Khalid Rehmani in his speech highlighted the popularity of wheelchair tennis in the world and promised to work for international participation of Pakistan’s top wheelchair tennis players. “Our players are now capable enough to represent the country abroad,” he said.

He also asked Paralymics Pakistan to add the discipline of wheelchair tennis in international mega events like the Paralympics, Asian Paralympics and Commonwealth Games etc.

The international day of persons with disability was also celebrated on Sunday, courtesy Sumaira Javed who is the chairperson of KK Event management. Shamim Firpo, president Union Club was the chief guest and distributed the trophies to winners and runners-up besides certificates to participants and coaches.
