ISLAMABAD: Seasoned Nasir Iqbal beat second seed Asim Khan to storm into the semi-final of Pakistan International Squash Tournament here at Mushaf Squash Complex on Wednesday.
Nasir, who is an experienced player who was ranked among the top 50 players of the world at one time, has no seeding for this championship as he could not play many tournaments because of the four-year ban imposed on him by World Anti-Doping Agency(WADA). However, on Wednesday, he made his presence felt and defeated second seed Asim comfortably in a four-set match.
The experienced player took 42 minute to overpowered Asim Khan 11-9, 11-2, 7-11, 11-5.
Meanwhile, top seed Tayyab Aslam, Israr Ahmed and Amaad Fareed also moved into semifinals. While, Amna Fayyaz, Madina Zafar, Moqaddas Ashraf and Faiza Zafar also entered the semifinals of the women event. All of them registered straight sets victories against their respective rivals.
