GWADAR: University of Turbat Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir inaugurated a computer laboratory consisting of 35 latest systems, gadgets and appliances. The laboratory was recently established at the university’s Gwadar campus.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the digital transformation had dramatically changed the learning paradigm and it was an undeniable fact that a sound infrastructure was a key for success in the modern world. He said the university’s Gwadar campus had been given access to Pakistan Education and Research Network (PERN) which provided WiFi and other IT related services to students, faculty members and administrative staff of the campus.

Dr Sabir said that the availability of IT facilities enhanced the crisis management functions of the campus and it helped it to become more responsive to face challenges, like the Covid-19 outbreak. He underscored that besides promoting research activities on the campus, these facilities also enabled the campus to manage online classes, distant e-learning and access to up-to-date information.

The vice chancellor assured the campus administration of complete technical and software support to further upgrade the computer lab and said that another well-equipped computer laboratory would soon be set up at the campus for its computer science department.

Campus Director Ijaz Ahmed thanked the vice chancellor for taking keen interest in the progress of the Gwadar campus and inaugurating the latest computer lab on the campus.

Giving a briefing on preparation for LMS, E-learning/online classes and overall progress of the campus, he said that students of the computer science department were working on a project to develop a new website for the campus.
