KARACHI: A woman and her four-year-old daughter died in a fire that erupted in their house located in Sector 36-B, Zamanabad, Landhi No. 4 on Sunday.

The area police said that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit at around 3am and engulfed the house causing burns to Mr Ibrahim, 36, his wife Ms Reema, 30, daughter Irum, 4, and son, Abrash, 5.

They were taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced Ms Reema and Irum dead on arrival.

Mr Ibrahim and Abrsh were admitted in the hospital’s burns centre for treatment. Area SHO Nusrat Shaikh quoted hospital staff as saying that the condition of both the patients was out of danger.

Woman commits suicide

A 30-year-old married woman committed suicide in Baldia Town on Sunday evening, according to police.

They said that the body of Naseema Bibi was found hanging from the ceiling in her house located in the Shanti Nagar locality.

Ittehad Town SHO Hakim Ali said that her family claimed she ended her life over some domestic issues.

In the Kalri area, a 30-year-old man was shot at and wounded by robbers over resistance.

Police said that Ali Akbar was shot at by robbers near Dua Hotel on Mauripur Road.
