BAHAWALPUR: The Punjab government has sanctioned special secretariat allowance for the newly-posted 166 officials of south Punjab secretariat in Bahawalpur and Multan.

According to a gazette notification issued by the Punjab government, it has approved the additional allowance to be paid at the rate of 150 per cent extra of the basic pay scale to each of the serving government official at the Bahawalpur and Multan secretariat. This extra secretariat allowance would be equal to the basic salary of one and a half months.

These 166 government officials (whose notified list has been issued) posted in the south Punjab secretariat include: Grade 21’s additional chief secretary (ACS), 17 secretaries of grade 17, two members board of revenue (MBRs), one senior chief planning and development (P&D) officer, two directors-general (DGs), 17 secretaries of grade 20, twenty-five additional secretaries of grade 19, two chief and planning officers of grade 19, forty-eight deputy secretaries of grade 18, three chief officers of grade 18, and 71 section officers of grade 17.

The governor has approved this extra allowance to the officials serving in south Punjab secretariat.

Meanwhile, South Punjab additional inspector-general (AIG) of police Zafar Iqbal awarded commendation certificates to four police officials for best performance.

On the occasion, the AIG remarked that to boost up the morale of the police force, their encouragement was essential to curb the crime in the region. He claimed that during campaign, police achieved a remarkable success in the arrest of criminals and proclaimed offenders in south Punjab.

Meanwhile, the AIG in his first order has transferred six superintendents of police (SPs) in south Punjab.

They are Javed Bhatti (SP investigation D.G.Khan), retired Lt Kamran Aamir Khan (SP Cantonment Multan), Dr.Muhammad Raza Tanveer (SP Gulghasht, Multan), Muhammad Arsalan Shahzeb (SP investigation Rahim Yar Khan), Rab Nawaz Tatla (SP investigation, Bahawalpur) and SP Gulgashat Multan Ahmed Nawaz Shah was transferred and posted as SP Headquarters Multan.
