MITHI: An entourage led by Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, a member of Abu Dhabi’s executive council and royal family, arrived in Tharparkar on Tuesday for a hunting excursion.

Stringent security arrangements were made by the district administration for the royal guests from the United Arab Emirates.

The entourage flew into Nawabshah and travelled from the airport to Tharparkar by road.

The Mirpurkhas additional commissioner had on December 8 written to Tharparkar DC Mohammad Nawaz Soho directing him to ensure fool-proof security and full protocol for the royal guests during their stay in the area.

The federal government has issued permits to several members of the UAE and some other Gulf states for the hunting of houbara bustard in Tharparkar and some other districts this season.

Wildlife department’s deputy conservator Mir Aijaz Talpur, currently posted in Tharparkar district, confirmed the arrival of the royal guests, and said they drove up to their gaming camp near Dahli.

“Before moving to other camps in Diplo taluka, the royal guests will be hunting in Dahli, Chhachhro and Nagarparkar talukas,” he added.
