QUETTA: Another polio case has been reported in Balochistan, taking the total number of children affected by the crippling virus in the province to 25 this year.

Officials said on Saturday the latest victim was a 16-month-old boy of Gulistan Tehsil of Qila Abdullah district that borders Afghanistan.

The boy had not received polio vaccine as his parents refused to allow the anti-polio team to get their child vaccinated.

The highest number of polio cases have been reported in the country from Balochistan.

Health officials have been urging the parents to get their children vaccinated to save them from becoming permanently disabled as vaccination is the only way to eradicate polio from the world.
