ISLAMABAD: A lawyer was shot dead while two minors lost their lives in a fire that broke out in a house.

The lawyer, identified as Shah Alam, was shot dead in G-10 by two persons on a motorcycle.

Station House Officer of Ramna Police Station SI Turabul Hassan told Dawn that the victim was in his car and died on the spot. The suspects escaped from the scene, he said.

Police shifted the body to hospital for legal procedure. The deceased was a native of Bannu, the SHO said, adding he was murdered over an old enmity that had claimed other lives as well and for which cases had been registered in Bannu.

Bannu police are being approached to get details about these cases, he added.

Furthermore, the two minors died in a fire that broke out in a house in Dhoke Malyar.

SHO Noon SI Ashiq Mohammad said the incident took place at Mohammad Jamil’s residence. His sister had come to visit him from Toba Tek Singh along with her four children, he said.

The four children were the only ones present at the residence when the incident happened; two of them, Sohaib Ali, 4, and Komal, 5, were in a room when fire started from a heater and quickly spread throughout. Both of them received 100pc burn injuries.

Police and rescue officials extinguished the fire later.
