KOHAT: A schoolteacher received severe burns in a gas leak blast in Hayat Shaheed Colony here on Saturday morning.

The Rescue 1122 said Shehzad Naeem forgot to turn off the heater before going to bed on Friday night.

They said the room got filled with gas after the supply was restored following an outage. Early morning, when the victim lighted the heater a blast occurred, leaving him critically injured.

The man was shifted to KDA Teaching Hospital in precarious condition, wherefrom he was referred to Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar.

Meanwhile, hours long power and gas outages and low pressure are testing the patience of consumers.

When contacted, Pesco executive engineer Yousuf Khan said the field staff had to suspend the supply to cut trees touching the heavy lines.

He said loadshedding would continue from 8am to 2pm on alternate days till Dec 31 to clear the entangled wires before summer.

The SNGPL also gave a deadline of Dec 31 to address the problems of low pressure and loadshedding.
