KASUR: A man allegedly stabbed his father to death and critically injured his mother for delaying his marriage, at Khara Chungi Mor in the limits of Sadar police station.

According to police, the suspect, Maqsood, 35, who ran a general store near his house, had been asking his parents to arrange his marriage but they kept on delaying it because of financial constraints.

As per police investigation, on Saturday night Maqsood had an exchange of words with his father Saleem and mother Shahida Bibi over the issue.

Later in the night (around 2am), the suspect attacked his parents with a knife, leaving them critically injured.

On hearing screams of the couple, neighbours rushed to the scene and nabbed the attacker. They called Rescue 1122 emergency service that shifted the injured to the district headquarters hospital, where Saleem was pronounced dead.

Shahida Bibi was referred to the Lahore General Hospital where she was being treated for his her critical injuries.

The police have arrested the suspect.
