BAJAUR/CHITRAL: Pakistan Peoples Party workers paid tributes to former prime minister Benazir Bhutto on her 13th death anniversary on Sunday.

PPP activists in Bajaur tribal district arranged separate functions at the residences of PPP provincial vice-president Sayed Akhunzada Chattan in Amankot and PPP local chapter president Aurangzeb in Khar.

Scores of party workers attended the events, paying tribute to their slain leader.

They said that Benazir Bhutto was a great leader who always raised her voice for betterment of the poor people of the country.

They were of the view that Benazir Bhutto was a bold and courageous person who worked for the promotion of democracy and rule of law in the country till her last breath.

Later, Quran Khawani and Fateh Khwani were also held on the occasion.

Meanwhile, at a function held in Chitral in connection with the martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto, the speakers said that the slain leader sacrificed her life for the sake of democracy and the poor people of the country.

The speakers, including PPP Chitral district president Saleem Khan, also highlighted the contribution of the Bhutto family to the cause of democracy and said that it was solely due to their efforts that the common people had come to know about their rights and how to secure them.

They said that no amount of repression and intimidation on the part of dictators could prevent the PPP leaders from realising the rights of the poor.
